The Challenge

William Penn Charter School sought counsel to assess the feasibility of the largest campaign initiative in its history. The School had two primary challenges: first, to determine whether staffing, operations, and other resources were optimally aligned to achieve its ambitious goal; and second, to develop and implement effective strategies for securing gifts.

Our Approach

Our three-tiered approach consisted of an internal readiness assessment, an external review of constituents, and ongoing campaign counsel. GG+A’s methodology included an analysis of fundraising materials and data in order to fully understand current fundraising operations; collection and analysis of benchmarking data from peer and aspirant peer institutions; face-to-face interviews with key stakeholders, both internal and external; and a web-based survey to help understand the perspective of a broader pool of prospects. GG+A also provided DonorScape® Wealth Screening and Predictive Modeling services and supported leadership briefings at which key prospects discussed fundraising objectives and the school’s strategic plan. Finally, GG+A provided a report of all findings, with recommendations for an adjusted campaign goal.

The Results

William Penn Charter School is several years into its campaign and has received its highest dollar amount in campaign funds to date. The ongoing relationship between GG+A and the Penn Charter development team continues to evolve as the School continues to secure gifts for the duration of the campaign.
