Royal Ontario Museum Foundation
In 2001, The Royal Ontario Museum Foundation anticipated undertaking a $200 million capital campaign to refurbish and construct a major new addition to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Canada’s premiere museum. ROM enlisted GG+A’s philanthropic management consulting services to conduct a thorough campaign readiness assessment and evaluate the potential for securing gifts.
Campaign Readiness Assessment Supports Effective Fundraising
The assessment revealed that the ROM Foundation had enjoyed consistent and progressive growth in membership and annual giving programs in recent years. It needed, however, a stronger major gifts program and expanded capabilities to identify and cultivate prospective major donors and volunteers. GG+A recommended additions to the Foundation’s major gifts staff, worked with the major gifts team to broaden its prospect base and forge new prospective donor relationships, and helped develop an effective strategy and plan for conducting the campaign.
Having surpassed the original campaign goal ahead of schedule, and in order to capitalize fully on the emerging potential of its prospective donor base, the Foundation (now the ROM governor’s office) elected to extend the fundraising campaign timeframe and increase the goal by almost 40 percent.
