University of Washington
In 2000, the University of Washington began planning for a $2 billion fundraising campaign to build greater support for students, faculty and programs, and to maintain its competitive edge among its peers. The University called on GG+A, the school’s long-time fundraising partner, to help structure the University’s campaign objectives and help prepare for the campaign.
Strategic Planning Study for the University Campaign
GG+A conducted a strategic planning study to assess how prospective donors viewed the University, and provided guidance in planning the campaign. More than 225,000 donors have contributed to Campaign UW: Creating Futures to date, creating hundreds of new endowments for faculty chairs and professorships, graduate fellowships, undergraduate scholarships and other support. In fiscal year 2006 alone, a record 105,000 donors gave to the University.
Furthermore, the UW has received more than 100 gifts of $1 million or more, and Campaign UW reached its $2 billion milestone nearly a year and a half ahead of schedule. GG+A provided ongoing counsel throughout the course of this successful campaign, and the firm continues to assist the University as it achieves its revised goal of $2.5 billion.
