Senior Executive Vice President and Managing Director

Drawing on more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and philanthropic consulting, Donna Wiley provides counsel to educational, cultural and healthcare institutions. She brings to her client work an awareness of the distinct qualities of each institution and of the common characteristics that define best practice in philanthropic management.

Before joining GG+A in 1999, Donna filled various administrative roles at Bryn Mawr College. During her thirteen-year tenure as Bryn Mawr’s chief advancement officer and secretary of the college, where she supervised a staff of 34, she was instrumental in the planning and implementation of the highly successful Campaign for Bryn Mawr, which surpassed its initial goal of $75 million, reaching $92 million in 1993. She also supervised public relations for the College and provided administrative support for the Board of Trustees.

Donna has also served as deputy director for external affairs at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, where she supervised marketing, membership and development; as associate director of medical development at the University of Pennsylvania; and as program assistant at the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation in New York.

Donna has been a member of the Giving USA Editorial Review Committee since 2000, and serves as executive editor of the Grenzebach Glier Quarterly Review. She is also a director of the Clowes Fund, Inc., a family foundation that provides support to education, the arts and social service institutions. Her broad interest in issues of governance, management and charitable tax law that affect nonprofit institutions informs her work on behalf of GG+A clients.

Donna holds a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University, a master’s degree from City College of New York and her doctorate in the history of art from Bryn Mawr College. She also spent one year of baccalaureate study at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England.

Selected GG+A client work includes:

– Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, continuing counsel since 1999, including work throughout the planning and implementation of the $400 million Hope Lives Here campaign and supervision of GG+A team members’ work on annual giving, advancement services and communications initiatives

– Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, provided counsel from 2001 to 2007, through the successful conclusion of the Stewards of the Earth campaign for $71 million, on behalf of which GG+A also provided comprehensive communications service

– Sarah Lawrence College, collaborative counsel since 2001, including a period of interim management of the advancement program, the successful conclusion of the $75 million Campaign for Sarah Lawrence in 2005, and ongoing counsel for an upcoming campaign

– University of Pennsylvania, work on a series of projects, including a review of central development and alumni relations, a campaign planning study, and initiatives on behalf of several professional schools, including The Wharton School, PENN Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine
