Robert Ryan has 15 years’ fundraising experience in diverse nonprofit sectors in Canada and the United States. He brings clients extensive experience in planned giving, major gifts, corporate relations, Board training and campaigns, particularly with healthcare, cultural and higher education institutions.

Before joining GG+A in 2007, he was a leader in the Public Television Major Giving Initiative, funded by the U.S. Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) in Washington, D.C. While there, he worked to develop giving programs at more than 50 public television stations. Participating stations saw a 20 percent increase in major gifts in the first year and a combined increase of $30 million in revenues over the first two years.

Prior to CPB, Robert was planned giving manager for the University of Ottawa, where he was responsible for all planned giving activities at one of Canada’s premier universities. He developed a three-year strategic plan for planned giving that resulted in a 30 percent increase in gift commitments over two years. He also played an integral role in the quiet phase of a CAD $200 million comprehensive campaign.

During his tenure at CARE Canada, the nation’s largest international development organization, annual major giving grew by 50 percent.

Robert also planned the organization’s first e-philanthropy initiative, Diminish the Distance. He has also worked with the National Office of the Canadian Red Cross Society. Robert earned a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College and a master’s degree in management for the Canadian voluntary sector through the McGill-McConnell Program at McGill University.
