Robert Fleming, Vice President, joined Grenzebach Glier and Associates (GG+A) in 2008 and brings more than 15 years’ experience in fundraising and non-profit management in the educational and cultural arenas.
Prior to joining GG+A, Robert was Director of Development and Alumni at University of Edinburgh, where he was responsible for planning and launching the largest capital campaign in Scotland’s history, The University of Edinburgh Campaign. The campaign, which launched in 2006, has a goal of £350 million over five years. The campaign topped the £240 million mark as of June 2008, recording new records for fundraising year on year from 2005 to 2008.
Prior to the University of Edinburgh, Robert was Director of Development for Trinity College of Music, London. As Director, he was responsible for all aspects of planning and execution for all fundraising initiatives, as well as public relations, marketing, and branding as part of a newly-expanded Development and Public Affairs Department. He led a number of major capital projects, including a £17 million relocation to the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich in 2001, and the acquisition of the Blackheath Halls performance venue in 2003, when he secured a £1.75 million gift, the largest in the College’s history.
Earlier in his career, Robert held roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company (as Head of Sponsorship), and the City of London Festival.
Robert has served on the boards of several cultural organisations, including the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival, of which he was Chairman 2005-2008, Making Music, where he served on the Board from 1994 to 2003, and Arts & Business, where he was the London Development Forum Co-chair from 1999 to 2002. He is currently on the Board of Scottish Ensemble.
Robert holds an MA Hons in Politics and Management Studies from the University of Glasgow and a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts Administration from City University London.
