Bob Hanle joined GG+A in 2001. From museums and cultural institutions to universities and hospitals, Bob has brought his fundraising skills to virtually every sector of the nonprofit world.

Prior to joining GG+A, Bob served as executive director for development for the Smithsonian Institution. Under his leadership, the Smithsonian increased annual private support 40 percent per year over four years and secured two of the largest museum gifts ever made in the country up to that time: $60 million in 1999 to support the construction of the new Dulles Center of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and $80 million in 2000 to refurbish the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

Earlier, as vice president and director of development at the University of Minnesota, he directed a central development staff of 28 professionals and provided oversight for 23 campus-based development programs. Prior to that, Bob served as the University’s associate dean and as director of external relations for the Institute of Technology, in addition to holding top leadership positions at Paine Webber, Inc., Metropolitan State University and Elizabethtown College.

Bob earned both his doctorate in higher education history and his master’s degree in higher education and statistics from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor’s degree in religion and philosophy from Elizabethtown College.
