Core Expertise

Art joined the firm with more than 30 years of broad-based development experience in educational and research institutions as well as humanitarian organizations throughout  the US, UK, and Europe.  He is a veteran of six major campaigns and brings to GG+A clients particular expertise in major gift programs and training.  He has managed development strategies in the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia.

Recent Accomplishments

Prior to joining GG+A, Art served as Vice President and Director of Development & Corporate Communications at University College London, where he managed fundraising and communications programs, including a £300 million campaign, among the largest such efforts undertaken in the UK.  He was also the first Director of Development for the Club of Madrid, a NGO working to promote democratization, with membership comprising former, freely elected Presidents and Prime Ministers from nations around the world. In addition, he served The Carter Center in Atlanta as Chief Development Officer for Major Gifts, where he worked directly with President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter and The Carter Center’s Board of Trustees on a successful campaign for $150 million in permanent endowment. 

Career Snapshot

Earlier in his career, Art worked at Gettysburg College in its first major comprehensive campaign; Rollins College in two successive major advancement programs; and University of Miami, where he was responsible for the then-largest gift received from a living alumnus. He has undertaken pro-bono development training and service assignments on behalf of a number of international organizations, such as National University of Singapore, Tate Modern Museum, and Andover-Newton Theological School.  Art was invited by the US Embassy in London to serve in its Warden Program, and is a former member of the Ross Group of UK university chief development officers.

In addition to his work with the firm, Art holds a position at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences as chief development officer. Art is a graduate of Dickinson College, with emphasis in anthropology and honors work in Latin American Studies.  He studied International Relations at the University of Miami.
