Mary Carole Starke joined GG+A as Consulting Vice President for Advancement Services in 2004. She is currently the Associate Vice President for Operations and Associate Campaign Director at Vassar College. Prior to her current role, she was the Director of Development for Operations, a position she has held since 2000.
Career Snapshot
Prior to that, Mary Carole worked as the College’s Director of Development Information and Research and Director of Donor Planning. Her role included managing prospect research, donor relations, biographical and gift recording, programming, reporting, technology, and support staff, as well as collaborating with senior development staff on strategic planning and identifying and implementing technology and support needs.
From 2000 to 2003, she also served in a consulting role to Occidental College, where she assisted in developing best practice strategies for use of SunGard SCT’s Banner database; reviewed existing reporting strategies and assisted in development of new reports; and conferred with development staff and IT staff on building Alumni and Development data marts.
During her service to Vassar, Mary Carole has implemented a comprehensive gift and pledge crediting policies manual, managed the implementation and maintenance of alumni/development data marts used for reporting, coordinated the implementation of a digital imaging system and supervised the acquisition and use of online giving transaction software. She coordinates management of alumni/development database and development office reporting needs, supports the use of a portal for high level volunteers, oversees technology needs in the development office and in her new role she is responsible for managing campaign operations including campaign planning, campaign staffing, and campaign budget oversight.
Prior to joining the Department of Development at Vassar, Mary Carole was a Senior Researcher at Ithaca College, where she identified, researched, and tracked major prospects for the president, vice president, corporate and foundation relations staff, and major gifts staff. As a research assistant at Gallaudet University, Mary Carole researched educational achievement and transition patterns of hearing impaired children throughout the United States.
Mary Carole received a bachelor’s degree from Elmira College and a master’s degree from the University of Maryland.
