An expert in communications, public relations and marketing, Joe Sanders has more than 30 years’ experience serving fundraising institutions. Since joining GG+A in 2001, Joe has served many educational, healthcare and cultural institutions throughout North America. He specializes in assessing and building communications programs to increase overall fundraising performance.
Previously, Joe worked at North Carolina State University, where he was associate vice chancellor for public affairs. In this role, he oversaw a 22-person staff and managed the marketing and communications for a capital campaign that exceeded its goal by 33 percent. Under his leadership, the development program also won international honors for media relations, video production and marketing.
Before that, he served the University of Denver as its vice chancellor for communications. During his tenure, the office of communications revamped admissions publications, redesigned and wrote alumni and development communications, and increased positive national publicity eight-fold.
In previous positions, Joe has also built effective communications programs at Texas Tech University and Health Sciences Center, Auburn University at Montgomery and The Child Development Institute of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
Joe received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and his master’s degree in mass communications from the University of Florida.
