In an era of declining and stagnant alumni giving rates...
Chris Marshall, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, has over 15 years of alumni relations experience working with university leadership at top-ranked institutions.
Drawing on his extensive expertise in higher education advancement, Chris is highly successful in securing the buy-in and support of key stakeholders in executing new initiatives. He has proven successful in building large teams and complex organizations. His particular expertise includes Alumni Relations, Alumni Engagement Metrics, Strategic Planning, Volunteer Management, Leadership Development, Alumni Affairs, Alumni Engagement, and Annual Giving.
From 2008-2013 Chris served as Associate Vice President for Alumni Affairs at Cornell University. In this capacity, he worked closely with senior leadership as a member of the planning team for the relaunch of Cornell’s Far Above campaign.
His other accomplishments at Cornell include introducing an alumni engagement index for measuring the success of the alumni affairs program, building professional affinity programs for communities of like-minded alumni, a new emphasis on student and young alumni programming, and a strategic investment in using social media for engagement. He also introduced and implemented an integrated model of alumni affairs and development that promotes a collaboration of those efforts as one organic and holistic piece of the same advancement operation, not two separate entities. Under his leadership, the Cornell University alumni affairs program received CASE Circle of Excellence Awards for the Cornell Silicon Valley program and the Cornell Entrepreneur Network.
Prior to joining Cornell, Chris served for seven years as Executive Director of the Lehigh University Alumni Association. There, he created an increased regional and international presence for alumni events; he also restructured the website to include an event management system and a more customer-centric alumni database. Under his direction, the Lehigh University Alumni Association received CASE Circle of Excellence Awards for programs such as the innovative Young Alumni Reunion program, the Association of Student Alumni program, and Senior Alumni programs.
Chris has been a featured speaker at conferences all over the world. From 2004 to 2007 he served as President of the Association of Private College and University Alumni Directors (PCUAD). Chris led the effort to develop an online benchmarking and assessment tool to measure Alumni Relations programs.
