Mary Carole Starke

Biography

Mary Carole Starke is a Vice President in the Advancement Services practice area at GG+A, where she consults with clients on a number of technology, data, and operations-related projects including advancement technology; prospect management; gift and records processing; organizational analytics; and more. She brings nearly 30 years of experience to the firm, with expertise in CRM systems, data management, prospect development, analytics, systems and technology, and stewardship. 

Mary Carole previously served as a Vice President at GG+A from 2005 until 2018, while continuing her work in Advancement Services at Vassar College. As a consultant, she advised more than 30 national and international institutions within higher education and arts and culture to enhance their fundraising success. At Vassar, Mary Carole was the Director of Development for nearly 20 years before becoming Associate Vice President of Advancement Services/Operations. During her tenure at the College, Mary Carole led organizational, campaign, and project management initiatives and collaborated with senior leadership in strategic planning. She also spearheaded change management processes for multiple users, implementing CRM and reporting tools and enabling $40-$50 million in annual fundraising. Among her leadership roles, Mary Carole was the co-campaign director for the $400-million “Vassar 150: World Changing Campaign,” and served as a strategic planning partner for the College’s current $500-million campaign. 

Mary Carole holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Elmira College in Elmira, New York, and a Master of Arts in sociology from the University of Maryland. In 2022, she completed a 10-month leadership program with Maximizing Organizational Resources (MOR). Throughout her career, she has been a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Advancement Services Professionals (AASP), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Association for Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP), including her current board seat at Navigators USA. She is also a past presenter at AASP conferences and the Northeast Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP).
