Shannon Murphy, Business Development Writer, assists the CEO and Chief of Staff in writing and editing a wide range of client-facing materials, including business proposals, presentations, marketing collateral, white papers, website content, newsletters, and client deliverables. In order to create meaningful, tailored communications, she partners with a team of consultants and project managers to understand each client’s needs, develop solutions, and translate those solutions into impactful prose.
Prior to GG+A, Shannon served as a Grant Writer for Azzarrelli Clinic in Kankakee, IL, and a Grant Writer & Fundraising Consultant for Aqualogue, a nonprofit organization in Chicago dedicated to sustainable environmental stewardship. Prior to her work in the voluntary sector, she held the roles of Proposal Writer and Communication Specialist with The Vitality Group, a leading global wellness technology company.
Shannon is also the author and editor of several published short stories, poems and essays. From 2011-2013 she launched and managed a local, independent publishing house, Yes Press Books, showcasing fiction, poetry and art by Chicago artists and writers.
Shannon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon, as well as a Grant Writing Certification from DePaul University. In 2009, she studied at L’Universita degli Studi di Macerata in Italy, acquiring proficiency in the Italian language.
