Bruno van Dyk, Senior Vice President, UK & Europe, brings to the firm over 20 years of experience in development work, university advancement and international activities in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Gulf, Europe, the UK and the US. During this time, he has led major university advancement endeavours, in both South Africa and the UK, exceeding targets in income and alumni engagement. He has also served as a primary volunteer in Southern Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa for the Danish Cultural Institute and the League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers (UK). Most recently, he served for 5½ years as Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Durham University, UK.
He has been and is an ordinary member and Chair of a number of University and other nonprofit national and international Boards. This includes being Chair, variously, of the Africa Centre for Childhood; the HIV/Aids Networking Centre; Marketing, Advancement and Communication in Education (Southern Africa); and the Institute for Partnerships between Education and Business. He has until recently served on the Board of the North American Foundation for the University of Durham.
Currently he is Chair of the International Partnership Network; CASE Africa; Alumni Association of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UK & Europe); and is on the committee of Practical Philanthropy across Europe (a project of the King Baudouin Foundation-US) and is a Commissioner on the CASE Global Commission on Philanthropy.
He has published on literary, educational and polemical issues and has served on the editorial board of “Giving: Thematic Issues in Philanthropy and Social Innovation”, (University of Bologna), taught for many years on the Masters in International Studies in Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship programme at the University of Bologna (Italy) and has contributed to current debates by presenting and facilitating at over 30 conferences. He has two Masters degrees, in English and Commerce respectively, a diploma in TEFL, and a certificate in Managing Partnerships and Strategic Alliances from INSEAD.
