Biography
Karen Devlin is the Chief Financial Officer at GG+A, where she oversees the firm’s accounting, financial management, and financial reporting systems. She brings more than 30 years of experience to the role, with comprehensive expertise in leading accounting and financial management teams for professional services organizations.
Prior to joining GG+A, Karen spent 20 years at the litigation law firm Cassiday Schade LLP, first as Controller, and later as Chief Financial Officer. Here, she was responsible for all financial functions – including accounting, payroll, billing, and 401(k) plan administration – for 100 attorneys at the firm’s 10 national offices. She also provided analysis, forecasting, and recommendations to the executive committee and participated in long-range financial and strategic planning. Among her accomplishments, Karen secured a $3.4-million Payroll Protection Program loan, implemented electronic billing software that increased the efficiency and transparency of the firm’s bill generation and submission processes, and redesigned monthly management reporting to reduce turnaround time and increase report accuracy.
Earlier in her career, Karen was the Financial and Operations Principal at Valuemetrics Capital LLC (formerly VM Equity Partners, Inc.), administering all financial functions for the Chicago and New York offices of a National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) brokerage. In addition, as the Director of Finance at Valumetrics Advisors, she served as a financial consultant to the president and CEO of a privately held financial advisory firm, streamlining the office’s accounting processes and designing effective financial and project management reports for senior leaders. Karen also served as the firm administrator and accounting manager for Welsh and Katz, Ltd., a law firm specializing in intellectual property.
Karen is a certified public accountant (CPA) who earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Elmhurst College. She holds a professional membership at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) and the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), and previously served on the ALA board as the financial advisor.
