Katherine Urban is the Executive Director for Advancement Learning at GG+A. She plays a leading role in assessing and developing training and development that supports clients and equips them with the mindsets, habits, and techniques that will help them drive transformational philanthropy at their institutions. Katherine brings more than 15 years of experience in strategic and operational leadership to the firm, specializing in creating learning environments that are effective and engaging. Her expertise includes designing, facilitating, and evaluating advancement learning opportunities in areas such as fundraising, team management, and communications.
Alongside her position at GG+A, Katherine serves as a consultant at Urban Collaborative Enterprises, where she focuses on developing learning solutions tailored to the unique needs of clients. Previously, she spent 14 years as the Director of Professional Development, Learning and Education at the University of Pennsylvania. As part of the Development and Alumni Relations team, Katherine launched a comprehensive professional development program for more than 600 staff, working with senior management, human resources, subject matter experts, and outside vendors to develop and implement customized workshops, retreats, and presentations for core University units. Among these offerings, Katherine created and facilitated an assessment-based management and leadership series for nearly 200 managers, in addition to designing a framework to track individual plans and support ongoing feedback and staff development. Prior to this, Katherine was the Director of Classes and Reunions at the University, managing the team that conceptualized, executed, and evaluated programs to connect undergraduates and alumni with the University and with Penn’s Alumni organizations.
Katherine herself is an alumna of the University of Pennsylvania, earning her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts there, with certificates in Applied Positive Psychology, and Leadership and Communication.
