Biography
Ruben Reyna is GG+A’s Controller, partnering with the chief financial officer to oversee the firm’s financial management and financial reporting systems. He brings more than 25 years of experience to the role, with expertise in finance, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and process improvement.
Prior to joining GG+A, Ruben was the Accounting Manager for CMT Asset Management Limited, a global proprietary trading and private equity firm. In this position, Ruben oversaw the firm’s accounting, financial controls, and management reporting. Among his achievements, he implemented a new cloud-based general ledger system and integrated software applications to optimize expense processing, management, and reporting. He also upgraded the business intelligence and reporting analytics platform, developed Excel-based applications to automate account reconciliations, and enhanced the efficiency of month- and year-end closing procedures.
Previously, Ruben was the Regional Controller and Director of the Global Finance Group for Opportunity International, a leading microfinance banking institution serving more than 10 million clients worldwide. Along with supervising the financial reporting of banks and strategic partners, he assisted subsidiary banks with a variety of finance and accounting matters, from strategic planning to debt and equity financing, budgeting, and more. In addition, Ruben mentored bank CFOs and finance staff and organized annual global CFO conferences and training sessions. Earlier in his career, Ruben worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland, a global investment and retail bank, in several finance roles.
Ruben received his M.B.A. in finance from DePaul University, and his B.B.A. in accounting from Loyola University. He formerly served as a finance committee member at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and was a board member at Eighteenth Street Development Corporation and Instituto del Progreso Latino. Ruben has also volunteered with the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA).
