Shannon Coffey

Biography
Shannon Coffey is a Staff Accountant at GG+A, where she plays a key role in supporting the firm’s accounting and financial management systems. A former math teacher, she brings more than 15 years of experience in administration, data analysis, teaching, program examination, and development to the firm. Shannon’s expertise includes strategic planning, performance analysis, quality controls, data review, report management, and more.
Prior to joining GG+A, Shannon was a staff accountant and auditor at the global professional services firm, Ernst & Young LLP. There, she excelled at creating detailed reporting, analyzing operations and programs, assessing risk, and developing effective strategies to meet financial objectives. Previously, Shannon was the lead math teacher at McKinley Junior High School, and earlier, at Coolidge Middle School. In addition to implementing record-keeping and data management systems to improve efficiency, she engaged students through differentiated instruction and developed interdisciplinary, project- and research-based curriculums. During her 12 years at Coolidge, Shannon also increased the number of students meeting or exceeding state standards by 125% and advocated for professional development sessions using in-house talent, significantly reducing district spending on consultants.
Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Illinois University, a bachelor’s degree in education from Eastern Illinois University, and an associate’s degree in business from South Suburban College. She holds professional memberships with the American Institute of CPAs, Beta Alpha Psi, the Illinois CPA Society, the Missouri Society of CPAs, and the National Society of Black CPAs. Shannon was formerly a Chapter President of the Delta Psi Epsilon Sorority, and has served as a volunteer with Chicago Cares, the Big Shoulders Fund, and Feed My Starving Children.
