Senior Vice President Pete Lasher Named Higher Education Practice Area Leader

Grenzebach Glier and Associates is pleased to announce Senior Vice President Pete Lasher has been appointed the leader of the Higher Education practice area. In this capacity, Pete will direct the firm’s continued level of exceptional client service and shape the direction and growth of this practice area.

“We are excited to welcome Pete as the leader of our Higher Education practice,” said GG+A CEO John Glier. “Pete’s exceptional client service and consistent delivery of thoughtful, thorough work demonstrates that he is well-poised to lead our team. GG+A has a long and distinguished history of working with colleges and universities, including many top-ranked research institutions throughout the world. We are confident that Pete’s guidance and leadership will further enhance and expand GG+A’s work in higher education.”

Since joining the firm in 2014, Pete has advised universities in North America and the UK that are in, or have successfully completed, campaigns ranging from $300 million to $2.5 billion. With more than 30 years of successful fundraising experience, Pete specializes in building partnerships across university stakeholder groups to advance institutional goals and philanthropic objectives. His evidence-based approach to client engagements assists clients as they achieve accelerated and sustained private support growth.

Prior to joining GG+A, Pete held leadership roles at several public and private higher education institutions, including the University of Southern California, Georgetown University, the University of Washington, and the University of North Carolina.

“Having led five separate billion-dollar capital campaigns at both private and public institutions in the United States, Pete understands what it takes for higher education institutions to reach their fundraising potential, as well as how GG+A can help them to realize that potential,” said GG+A President Suzanne Hilser-Wiles. “In addition to providing fundraising and advancement counsel, he has helped serve clients through widely read thought leadership pieces, webinars that feature insightful discussions with professionals throughout the industry, and more.”

Throughout the firm’s more than six decades, GG+A has served nearly 400 colleges and universities, including all of the top 25 globally ranked universities, all 63 members of the Association of American Universities, the flagship public universities in 46 states, four of the five top-ranked universities in Canada, and numerous universities in the UK, Europe, Asia, and Australia. GG+A is established as an international leader in all aspects of higher-education philanthropy.

The Higher Education Practice Area collaborates with other GG+A resources in serving its clients, including its SurveyLab division that offers clients a better understanding of their constituencies, the Strategic Communications team, which works closely with clients as they set philanthropic priorities, formulate compelling gift propositions and campaign collaterals, our Alumni Relations group, Advancement Services, Philanthropic Analytics, and DonorScape.

Pete has strong connections among higher education advancement professionals and is a recognized thought leader by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE).

“I’m grateful to John and Suzanne and honored to have the opportunity to lead the higher education practice at a time when our client institutions are placing increasing strategic importance on the growth of their philanthropic support,” said Lasher. “I look forward to working with leaders across higher education to build the fundraising capacity necessary to drive accelerated and sustained growth.”
