Johns Hopkins University Receives $150M to Promote Open and Inclusive Discourse

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation committed $150 million to Johns Hopkins University to “forge new ways to address the deterioration of civic engagement worldwide and facilitate the restoration of open and inclusive discourse.” The gift establishes the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Agora Institute, which will serve as a public forum for interdisciplinary academics and thought leaders. The Institute will also research ways to strengthen democracy by exploring new ways to approach divisive issues in a productive manner.
