AI and Tech at University of Toronto Buoyed by Billionaire Couple

The University of Toronto continues to break records and defy limitations of excellence with the news of a C$100 million gift by Canadian philanthropists Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman. Per U Toronto, the donation is the largest in both the history of the university and Canada’s technology sector. The institution will break ground on the Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre, a state-of-the-art research facility for artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and entrepreneurship to house student and faculty-led start-ups. The Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society compliments the Innovation Centre through social research of emerging industries.

The University of Toronto is fresh off the success of the Boundless capital campaign. This week’s “critical” donation gifts students a highly specialized, socially and technologically advanced academic opportunity.
