Fundraisers outlook remains steady while nonprofits begin to see greater impact on budgets and staff

October’s outlook on fundraising has remained somewhat steady with September numbers – just forty-two percent (42%) of fundraisers anticipate a 90-day high negative impact. However, there have been more budget cuts (91%) and permanent layoffs (33%) reported in October than in the past three months. Greater numbers of fundraisers report budget cuts in the Higher Education (86%) and Healthcare (82%) industries.

Methodology

Based on input from 1,764 participants, GG+A SurveyLab is conducting a weekly tracking survey of fundraising offices to provide data for the industry to understand trends and conditions stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. This report contains data collected through an online survey conducted September 7 to September 20. These data points are compared to data collected over the previous 18 weeks: Sept 7 -20, Aug 24 -Sept 6Aug 10-23, July 27-Aug 2July 20-26June 22 – 28June 15-21June 8-14,  June 1-7,  May 25-31May 18-24, May 11-17, May 4-10, April 27-May 3, April 20-26April 13-19April 6-12March 30-April 5March 23-29 and March 16-22.
